Tips on How to Pick your Bridemaids

It’s an exciting time you will be marrying the man of your life. You have been planning this day since kindergarten. You know what style of dress you want, what the wedding colors are going to be, and where you want to honeymoon. But, you lay awake at night contemplating who you will pick to be bridesmaids. The problem isn’t that you don’t have friends, but that you have tons of them. You have collected them like designer shoes, some from high school, some college, and God knows where. And let’s not forget your family that expects to be a bridesmaid. Take inventory. Get a notebook and jot down the names of your best girlfriends. Think about the girls that you have written down and you’re self a few questions: how long have we been friends? can I count on her?, is she a drama queen?. Think of it like inspecting these ladies as if they are a piece of fresh fruit or groceries in a store. I have a few suggestions to help you shorten your bridesmaid’s list.

• Get rid of the girlfriend that always cancels on you when you call her for a girl’s night out; the day of, she always makes up some sort of illness that prevents her from going out.

• Eliminate the friend that finds the negative in everything. If the sky is blue and not a cloud in it; she would say how she hates the sun in her eyes. She would not be your cheerleader on your wedding day.

• Drop the friend that never has time for you. When you call her, she’s always on the other line or an important call, but never seems to call you back.

• Do away with the girl that always wants you to listen to her sobs and bad break ups, but when it’s your turn, she’s quick to say her problem is worse.

• Don’t even think about the friend that knew your fiancé before you did, and she always has a story to tell about his past girlfriends. These examples may be over exaggerated, but what you are looking for is your “Ride or Die “girls. The friend that flies into town and you are the first person she calls. The girl that calls you and screams, “I got too tickets to see Beyonce tonight, get dressed lets go!” Or, the friend that sends you her favorite inspirational quote when you are having a bad day. How about the one that has seen you at you worst, but loves you anyway? You want positive energy around and well wishes. The day is about you and your fiancé; no one should steal the show.
